New home for the 433rd!

Our old home of 40 years at St Luke’s United Church at 516 The Kingsway closed in June 2010. We’d like to thank the congregation who sponsored us through all those years.

Beginning in September 2010, the 433rd has relocated to Islington United Church (at 25 Burnhamthorpe Road just north of Dundas Street). IUC has graciously offered to sponsor our group continuing their 50 year commitment to Scouting. We were fortunate to find a congregation with such a strong commitment and excellent facilities that include two halls.

Thanks to everyone at Islington United Church!

433rd Scouts at Queen's Park

The 433rd Scouts have been working on their citizenship badge and visited the Provincial Legislature for a tour.

They had the good fortune to meet the speaker of the house Stephen J. Peters.  A few of the even got to take his chair! (But he asked for it back.)

Pirates on the Grand!

The 433rd Venturers first outing of the season was a one night camp and canoe outing on the Grand River. Provisioned by Grand Experiences, we embarked on a leisurely 24 km trip known as the Tuscarora run from Glen Morris to Paris and finally to the Brant Conservation Area.

On route, the company honored International Talk Like A Pirate Day (arrr, avast, and shiver me timbers too), guarded a wedding site (no plunderin lads) for our good turn, and enjoyed snacks, lunch, and awesome comradeship.

Awards could have been handed out for the following:
  • Most outrageous boasting
  • Best self-extraction from a grounding
  • Best pirouette in a swift
  • Greatest distance paddled backwards
  • Backwards traverse of a swift
  • Least likely to drown on dry land
A grand time was had by all.
