We’d like to thank the congregation who sponsored us through all those years.

Beginning in September 2010, the 433rd has relocated to Islington United Church (at 25 Burnhamthorpe Road just north of Dundas Street). IUC has graciously offered to sponsor our group continuing their 50 year commitment to Scouting. We were fortunate to find a congregation with such a strong commitment and excellent facilities that include two halls.

Thanks to everyone at Islington United Church!Mang (433rd)http://www.blogger.com/profile/03917086753736981397noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3289643528687411200.post-10736013815987170042010-08-28T09:27:00.000-04:002010-08-28T09:27:27.757-04:00Scouts Canada and Canadian Youth need YOUR help!Scouts Canada is competing for a $100,000 grant in the Pepsi “Refresh Everything” campaign. They are looking for organizations with ideas that will have a positive impact on communities. Scouts Canada’s submission is to send more children and youth across Canada to Scout Summer Camps. The idea with the most registered votes by August 31st will win the $100,000 grant.

The idea just moved into the # 1 spot with only days left. This is a good cause that will help Canadian kids get outside and camping! Please check it out and help make a difference.

It will only take a few minutes of your time to:

Go here - http://www.refresheverything.ca/sendkidstoscoutcamp

Register once

Please vote everyday!

Help get the word out via email, twitter, facebook, or any other tools you have.

Copy the originator when you forward this to let them know you’ve made a difference!

More on the project. Pepsi is giving away 10 grants ranging from $5,000 to $100,000. You can vote once per day for each grant. There are lots of good causes worth supporting. Many benefit kids. Check out the leader board for more.Mang (433rd)http://www.blogger.com/profile/03917086753736981397noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3289643528687411200.post-59694610921577720902010-02-24T07:37:00.001-05:002010-02-24T09:04:57.460-05:00433rd Scouts at Queen's Park

The 433rd Scouts have been working on their citizenship badge and visited the Provincial Legislature for a tour.
Provisioned by Grand Experiences, we embarked on a leisurely 24 km trip known as the Tuscarora run from Glen Morris to Paris and finally to the Brant Conservation Area.

On route, the company honored International Talk Like A Pirate Day (arrr, avast, and shiver me timbers too), guarded a wedding site (no plunderin lads) for our good turn, and enjoyed snacks, lunch, and awesome comradeship.
You probably won't notice a large difference at first because the upgrade was mostly under the covers as they say.

The original web site was hand crafted by one of our Beaver leaders (Hawkeye). While it was well done, it was a bit difficult to maintain and update. We made the decision to retire the old site after its' sterling service when we found a suitable replacement.

We needed a system that would allow more collaboration and easy maintenance. One of the primary goals was to put in place a system that could be distributed over several volunteers. The system we chose was Wordpress, a popular open source web publishing tool for web pages and blogs. Wordpress is ideal for small scale web publishing and being open source is free.

The initial change was to move the existing content to the new site, update some of the contact information, and make some of the information clearer and easier to find. More changes will come over the next while but the look and feel of the site should remain much the same.

A big thanks to Baloo!Mang (433rd)http://www.blogger.com/profile/03917086753736981397noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3289643528687411200.post-55251063777884067432008-09-30T21:13:00.000-04:002008-09-30T21:15:39.535-04:00Welcome Chil!We have a new Cub leader, welcome Chil!Mang (433rd)http://www.blogger.com/profile/03917086753736981397noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3289643528687411200.post-20847769733262782342008-09-09T21:20:00.001-04:002008-09-09T21:22:46.517-04:00Scouting Background ChecksI've posted an article that talks about the ins and outs of Scouting background checks, see Background Checks and Scouting.Mang (433rd)http://www.blogger.com/profile/03917086753736981397noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3289643528687411200.post-13276555972294821272008-08-22T17:35:00.000-04:002008-08-22T17:35:00.842-04:00Registration Night - September 9th!Come one, come all ...

ATTENTION ALL FUTURE and RETURNING BEAVERS, CUBS, SCOUTS and VENTURERS!

The 433rd Toronto Scout Group is holding our 39th Annual Registration Night on:

Tuesday, September 9, 2008

7:00 – 8:30 pm

St. Luke’s United Church (located at the corner of Kipling and The Kingsway)

Registration Fee $135.00

Beavers: Ages 5 – 7, Kindergarten – Grade 2
Cubs: Ages 8 – 10, Grades 3 - 5
Scouts: Ages 11 – 14, Grades 6 – 9
Venturers: Ages 14 – 17, Grades 10 - 12
Beavers and Scouts meet Wednesday nights, Cubs and Venturers on Tuesday nights at St. Luke’s. Scouting is for girls and boys.

Come and sign up for a great year of friendship, camping, outdoor fun and adventure, games, learning, Cuborees and Beaverees, and much more!

Parents: Are you interested in being a leader or a Group Committee member or just helping out from time to time?
